Azadeh Ehsani Chombeli
Founder and Director
Azadeh Ehsani is the founder and director of the Amard Center for Irano-Semitic Studies. Her doctoral degree was completed in the field of Religion at Concordia University. Following her graduation, the degree was officially evaluated and recognized by the relevant academic evaluation authority in Iran, and was equated to the field of Ancient Languages and Cultures.
She completed her Bachelor’s degree in Persian Language and Literature at Allameh Tabataba’i University and later obtained a Master’s degree in Ancient Languages and Cultures from the Institute for Humanities and Cultural Studies in Iran.
After completing her Master’s studies, she attended a one-year program in Sanskrit language and literature at the University of Pune, India, where she received a diploma in Sanskrit studies.
During her residence in Canada, she worked part-time as a teaching and research affiliate at the Faculty of Religion and Culture at Concordia University.
Her main research interests include the Babylonian Talmud and Sasanian Middle Persian literature. Her current research focuses on Irano-Talmudica studies, the contextual study of the Babylonian Talmud within the Iranian cultural sphere, and the historical linguistics of Aramaic and Middle Persian.
